Can I Save My Mental, Physical, and Financial Health by Completing Every Single One of My Abandoned Projects?

Welcome fellow life traveler,

If you have found this blog post, you too might have misplaced your will to do much of anything with your life. Maybe you are like me and never recovered from loss and grief, have a nervous system that never feels safe, and have hundreds of unfinished abandoned projects, the mental load of which keeps you up for hours every night.

Or maybe you are nothing like that and just want some ideas to get your mental health and nervous system back on track by completing your projects.

Either way, you are welcome here.

In this series, I attempt to find my lost will to participate in life by completing every last one of my abandoned projects and documenting the journey to hold myself accountable and maybe, just maybe help you regain your lost will as well.

How did I get here and what is a mental health project?

The last several years have been filled with loss, anger, grief, dysfunctional jobs, failed attempts to be productive in any capacity, mental illness and nervous system dysregulation. You can read all the details here

I started working with a nervous system therapist and although I’m not “cured”, completing two appointments and doing the somatic exercises on my own on a daily basis has began to shift my mental, physical, and nervous system health. I’m feeling less terrified and more interested in my career and creativity again.

Which brings us to the question posed in the title and the purpose of this post. As my brain and system recalibrate from being on very high alert for the past decade, I started to reflect on the many, MANY projects I have abandoned over the last three years. Projects I was, at one time or another, truly excited about. Things I honestly wanted to put out into the world. But how do I actually finish each of these projects? And have fun? And make an income? And save my health? Enter:

THE GREAT MENTAL HEALTH PROJECT of 2026

Here are the rules:

  1. make one list of all my projects

  2. I’m not allowed to buy any more supplies

  3. make a note of any project I want to expand

  4. take Sunday’s off to relax

  5. make videos, blog posts, social media posts and pateron posts about what I’m doing daily to hold myself accountable

  6. complete daily self care (walk, sun, veggies, supplements, dishes, laundry, good sleep habits, hair and skin care, journaling, exercises)

  7. ask for help when I need it

  8. I’m not allowed to be miserable (no judging, shaming, or terrifying myself)

  9. commit to finding solutions and using tools

I plan on tackling a wedding blog, my stack of unread books, and starting a mail club among other projects

In addition to completing projects and following the rules, I want to make sure I’m actually making progress on building a life not just being busy. The purpose of this project is to improve my health, not be productive. To assist me I’m going to do a weekly check-in by reviewing my energy tracker, fun tracker, mental health tracker, and physical health tracker.

So, without further ado, I’ll begin with my project list, in no particular order.

Can I really do this?

You and me are about to find out.

Much love and many blessings,

Meagan
